The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has imposed a lifetime ban on Salman Iqbal Butt, the coach of Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, citing mismanagement and violation of the federation’s constitution.

According to the AFP, the federation found Salman Iqbal Butt and Syed Habib Shah guilty of conducting unconstitutional and illegal elections of the Punjab Athletics Association.

The federation imposed a lifetime ban on Arsahad Nadeem’s coach, Salman Iqbal Butt, and Syed Habib Shah has been banned for ten years for similar offenses.

The federation declared these elections null and void on August 31, reinforcing its stance against internal violations and procedural misconduct.

The lifetime ban means that Salman Iqbal Butt will no longer be able to participate in any athletics-related activities across Pakistan.

The AFP stated that the decision aims to maintain transparency, discipline, and adherence to proper governance within the sport’s administrative structure.

Officials highlighted that such disciplinary actions are necessary to uphold the federation’s credibility and protect the integrity of athletics in the country.

Pakistan’s famous javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has been declared Asia’s Athlete of the Year 2024 by the Asian Athletics Federation.

The announcement was made at the Federation’s annual meeting held in South Korea, where Arshad received a special award recognizing his remarkable achievements over the past year.

Arshad’s success has brought great pride to Pakistan and placed the country firmly on the global athletics map.

Last year, he won the gold medal in the Olympic javelin throw event and made the longest throw ever recorded in Olympic history. His achievements have been celebrated not only by sports fans but also by the general public and government officials across Pakistan.

During the Paris Olympics, Arshad made history by throwing the javelin 92.97 meters, earning Pakistan its first Olympic gold medal in 40 years.
