The government of Sindh has announced the timeline for the distribution of the Pink Electric Scooters among females to promote safe and affordable transportation across the province.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon held a meeting where the attendants reviewed the progress of “Pink Scooters Program” initiative.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said the provincial government launched this step to provide daily transport facilities, making education, employment, and social participation more accessible for women in Karachi and beyond.

He encouraged female students and working women to fully benefit from the program. He added that access to independent transport will reduce the challenges women face in public commuting.

During the meeting, the members decided to distribute the free pink electric scooters to women and female students in the ongoing week; however, no specific date was announced by the minister.

According to government officials, the scooters will initially be provided in major cities. Distribution phases will later extend to other districts, depending on demand and program performance.

Earlier to this, Karachi traffic police have issued strict safety guidelines for bikers in Karachi and made side mirrors, chain covers, and certified helmets mandatory.

The authorities urged factories, mills, and industries to ensure their employees comply with traffic rules, particularly the use of helmets and valid driving licenses.

DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah issued the directives, highlighting growing concerns about road safety in Pakistan’s largest city.

According to the new guidelines, every motorcycle must display a legal number plate, while headlights, taillights, and indicators should remain in proper working condition. Side mirrors and chain covers have also been made mandatory.
