The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) announced on Friday that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 has been rescheduled following heavy floods across multiple regions of the country.
The test, which was originally slated for October 5, the nationwide entrance exam will now take place on October 26, 2025, giving candidates additional time to prepare amid challenging circumstances caused by seasonal flooding.
PMDC explained that the decision was taken in consultation with universities from all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure fairness and provide equal academic opportunities to all applicants.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, who instructed the rescheduling, described the move as necessary in the “larger interest of students,” noting the importance of safeguarding access to higher medical education.
The MDCAT is an essential prerequisite for admission to medical and dental colleges nationwide, serving as a standardized assessment of candidates’ aptitude and readiness for professional healthcare training.
Earlier, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) launched the MDCAT 2025 question bank as part of its plan to digitize operations and ensure transparency in the country’s medical and dental college admission process.
At a briefing in Islamabad, PMDC President Professor Dr. Rizwan Taj stated that while the Council will oversee registration and monitoring, public universities will prepare question papers, conduct exams, and handle marking.
The newly launched question bank is developed based on a consensus syllabus approved by all provinces.
The initiative aims to eliminate errors, address regional concerns, and provide equal preparation opportunities for all students.
So far, more than 97,000 candidates have registered for MDCAT 2025, with the number expected to rise to 150,000 by the end of the registration period, officials confirmed during the briefing.
