Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has prepared a strategy for new dams with the cooperation of all four provincial chief ministers.
Speaking during a private new channel program, Tarar stated that the PM highlighted that the early completion of Diamer Bhasha Dam, which has been discussed multiple times at the federal level.
He added that in a recent meeting, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur requested additional funding for dam projects, and all provinces have assured their full support for construction.
Tarar said that repairing the damages caused by recent floods will be done without political discrimination, and the work will begin as soon as the water levels start to decrease.

He called for the urgent need to plant more trees across the country, stating that deforestation must stop, and strict accountability is required against those involved in illegal tree cutting.
Floods have worsened in several regions across Pakistan after India released water into the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers. Many villages have been drowned, causing significant damage to homes, shops, and roads.
Areas like Wazirabad have faced heavy flooding, with streets and markets submerged. The floodwaters also entered the historic Gurdwara Kartarpur Darbar.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division, water entered the Ravi River at Jasrak for the first time in seventy years and reached Shahdara after thirty-seven years, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Officials are closely monitoring river levels and have urged people in vulnerable areas to stay alert, as rescue and relief operations continue across flood-affected regions.
