A 66-inch drainage line of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) on Ziauddin Road is submerged due to recent rains in Karachi.
KWSC, in an official statement, stated that the sewer line repair work has started on an emergency basis after heavy rain submerged a 66-inch drainage line on Ziauddin Road.
According to officials, the damaged sewer line caused problems in the drainage system of several nearby areas.
Chief Engineer Sewerage Aftab Alam Chandio said the affected line is 20 feet deep and 66 inches wide, making the repair work very complicated and time-consuming.
He explained that the damaged pipes need replacement to avoid similar problems in the future. The entire repair process is expected to take at least four days.
During this period, areas including Urdu Bazaar, Burns Road, I.I.Chundrigar Road, Bolton Market, City Court, Civil Hospital, and Haqqani Chowk may face drainage issues.
Traffic flow on the surrounding roads may also be disrupted due to the ongoing repair work. Citizens are advised to take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
