The Met Office has forecast heavy rainfall in Karachi today under the influence of a strong monsoon system currently hovering over the city.
The department stated that wind direction has shifted towards the northeast, with a recorded speed of four kilometers per hour. Citizens have been advised to remain cautious during potential heavy downpours.
Several areas of the city are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with the weather system likely to persist and bring showers intermittently until August 22, according to officials.
Rain statistics from Wednesday show that Orangi Town recorded the highest rainfall in the city, receiving 113mm. Other areas like Shara-e-Faisal and Korangi recorded 43mm and 35.6mm respectively during the monsoon showers.

University Road and PAF Masroor Base each recorded 24mm, while Defence Phase-V received 20mm, Saadi Town 15.9mm, and Gulshan-e-Maymar reported the lowest rainfall at 6.8mm, according to official Met Office data.
Earlier forecasts highlighted widespread heavy rainfall across multiple districts including Mithi, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sanghar, Jamshoro, and adjoining cities, continuing intermittently until Thursday.
Scattered rainfall is also expected across Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, and Jacobabad, where authorities have issued alerts to prepare for waterlogging and possible flooding in low-lying neighborhoods.
The Met Office further warned that similar weather patterns would impact parts of Balochistan including Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Awaran, Kech, Gwadar, and Panjgur over the next four days.
Authorities have advised residents of flood-prone areas to stay alert and follow instructions issued by emergency services to ensure safety as heavy rainfall continues across southern Pakistan.
