Parents can report schools charging unfair fees to directorate: Sindh Education Dept

The Sindh Education Department stated that parents can report the schools charging unfair fees to the Directorate of Private Institutions in Karachi.

The department assured that the private school in Karachi if found involved in any violations would be addressed under the law.

A notification issued by the Directorate of Private Institutions recently reiterated that only admission and monthly fees are allowed to be asked from the parents.

Any additional charges, such as examination fees from classes 1 to 8 or fees for monogrammed notebooks, are deemed illegal.

Despite these directives, private schools across Sindh continue to impose extra fees, disregarding the education department’s guidelines.

Parents have voiced frustration, highlighting that their objections have gone unaddressed by school administrations.

The department stressed that schools are obligated to adhere to regulated monthly and June-July fees only, with any extra charges subject to penalty.

The Sindh Education Department urged parents to bring complaints directly to the Directorate of Private Institutions to ensure swift action against non-compliant schools.
