The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) PhD Scholarships 2026/27 are now open for applications, offering fully funded doctoral study and research opportunities in Germany.
These scholarships provide a chance for talented researchers to advance their careers while building global academic networks.
Funding options
The program offers two major funding categories:
Research Grants: Doctoral Programmes in Germany: Full funding for PhD candidates at German universities or research institutes.
Research Grant in Germany: Short-term funded research from 2 to 12 months for doctoral students, and 2 to 6 months for postdoctoral researchers.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must hold Master of Science (MS) or MPhil degree with an above-average academic record. They should also have admission to an individual doctoral project or a structured PhD program in Germany.
