The Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Traffic Karachi, has announced a comprehensive traffic plan in preparation for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain, which will take place on Friday, 15 August 2025, corresponding to 20 Safar 1447 Hijri.
The main procession will begin from Nishtar Park, follow its traditional route, and conclude at Husainia Iranian Imambargah. For security purposes, MA Jinnah Road will remain closed from Gurumandir to Tower throughout the procession.
District Central:
Travelers from Nazimabad can take Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road via Garden to reach their destinations. Those coming from Liaquatabad may use Teen Hatti. They can turn right toward Lasbela Chowk or left toward Central Jail via Martin Road.
From Hassan Square to Peoples Chowrangi, motorists can pass under Central Jail Flyover and use Kashmir Road to Society Light Signal on Shahrah-e-Quaideen. Alternatively, they can take Teen Hatti and Nishtar Road via Lasbela Chowk.
District East
Traffic from Shahrah-e-Faisal toward Shahrah-e-Quaideen (Noorani Kabab) to Numaish can turn right at Society Light Signal to Kashmir Road.
Vehicles from the Central Jail Gate on Jamshed Road to Gurumandir may use Bahadur Yar Jang Road through Soldier Bazaar.
District South
Traffic from Garden Zoo to MA Jinnah Road can take Uncle Sarya and turn right toward Gul Plaza, or they can turn left toward the Coast Guard via Holy Family Hospital.
Heavy and commercial traffic from Super Highway or Gulberg heading toward MA Jinnah Road will be diverted from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2. Then proceed through Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Sher Shah, and Mauripur.
The same route applies for return traffic.
National Highway
Vehicles must take Shahrah-e-Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road, then follow Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No. 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2. Continue through Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Sher Shah, and Mauripur.
No vehicles will be allowed beyond Gurumandir toward the procession route.
Traffic will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road via Soldier Bazaar. Only vehicles displaying procession stickers on the windscreen will be permitted entry through Shahrah-e-Quaideen and Society Light Signal.
Route for Sabeel and Niaz vehicles
For procession participants, those coming from Nazimabad can use Lasbela and Albela. They should turn right toward Garden Jamaat Khana and proceed to Soldier Bazaar No. 3 Light Signal to reach Numaish.
From Liaquatabad, the route is Teen Hatti, Jehangir Road, and Gurumandir to Numaish. Society Light Signal provides direct access. Meanwhile, participants from Gulistan-e-Johar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal can take University Road, Old Sabzi Mandi, Kashmir Road, and Society Light Signal to Numaish.
Vehicles carrying Sabeel and Niaz can enter via Tower or Lyari Expressway Garden Interchange. They continue along Agha Khan 3rd Road, Uncle Sarya, Nasira School, and Capri Light Signal.
Another option is Bahadur Yar Jang Road through Soldier Bazaar to Holy Family Hospital. Then turn right toward Nasira School and Capri Light Signal. Parking will not be allowed anywhere along the procession route.
