Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has unveiled the schedule of major events for Jashan-e-Azadi and Marka-e-Haq celebrations, taking place from August 11 to 14 across the city.
According to the Commissioner’s Office, all Deputy Commissioners are coordinating with relevant institutions to ensure the programs are memorable and widely attended. Citizens have been urged to actively participate to express their patriotism.
From August 11 to 13, “Azaadi Quaid ke Saath” will be held on Shahrah-e-Quaideen, showcasing portraits of martyrs and national heroes, along with flag-hoisting ceremonies and patriotic performances.
On August 12, the Mazar-e-Quaid will feature a special night-time projective illumination.
Sports activities include a Jashn-e-Azaadi Night Cricket Match in Keamari District and a sports gala at the Youth Development Sports Center in Gulistan-e-Johar.
The highlight will be a grand musical concert at Karachi’s National Stadium on August 13, featuring performances by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Sajjad Ali, Sanam Marvi, and others. The event is organized by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the Arts Council.
Other key activities on August 13 include a wreath-laying ceremony at Yadgar-e-Shuhada by Deputy Commissioner Malir, a city float parade, and a cycling race from Frere Hall to the Quaid’s Mausoleum.
On August 14, the main flag-hoisting ceremony will be held at the Quaid’s Mausoleum to mark Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.
