At least 14 individuals have been arrested in connection with the violence that broke out following the dumper accident on Rashid Minhas Road, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed.

Speaking to the media at the National Stadium, he said the arrests were made using CCTV footage and warned of strict legal action against those involved in disturbing the peace.

He stated that if a dumper driver’s negligence caused the death of an innocent person, both the driver and the vehicle owner would face a FIR.

Similarly, those who burned trucks or created unrest at the accident site would be charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Memon hinted at igniting ethnic and linguistic conflict in Karachi, urging the public to remain vigilant against those instigating hatred in Karachi.

He stressed that the government would not allow such elements to succeed.

“No one will be allowed to spread hatred or ignite conflict in Karachi. Pakistan has already faced too many divisions, and now it must move towards progress,” Memon said.

The minister reiterated that anyone engaging in hate speech, blocking roads, or inciting violence would face immediate legal consequences, regardless of their political affiliation or organizational backing.

He assured that both the accident perpetrator and those exploiting the tragedy for unrest would be prosecuted.

“No one should be under the illusion that they can damage Karachi’s peace or incite ethnic violence and escape the law,” he added.

According to Memon, FIRs have already been registered against those who blocked roads and vandalised property after the incident. He vowed that all offenders would be dealt with strictly and within the framework of the law.
