Pakistan Champions owner Kamil Khan has opposed the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to impose a “blanket ban” preventing privately-owned teams from using the country’s name in future editions of the World Championship of Legends (WCL).

The PCB announced this ban following its 79th Board of Governors meeting, citing concerns over political biases and inconsistent treatment by tournament organizers.

Reacting to media reports suggesting Pakistan Champions would not return to the WCL, Khan expressed confusion, questioning the source of the information.

He stated, “If [this news] came from PCB, then I don’t know why,” emphasizing that his team operates independently as part of a private league.

Khan clarified that the Pakistan Champions team is his personal property, separate from PCB control.

“This is our own Pakistan Champions team. I own this team. PCB does not own it,” he said, comparing the WCL to other global private leagues where national branding is common.

Defending the team’s name, Khan linked it to national identity, calling Pakistan a source of pride.

“No one can stop us from naming our team after our country,” he asserted, rejecting the PCB’s authority over private league branding.
