During the question hour in the Sindh Assembly, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon denied responsibility for Red Line Bus Rapid-Transit (BRT) delays. He said the provincial transport department was not causing the hold-ups. Local and international experts are monitoring the entire project.

Memon said major infrastructure work is moving fast in Karachi. Two Yellow Line BRT sections are under rapid development. A key bridge will be ready by August. He admitted technical and administrative hurdles may cause occasional delays. Relocating gas lines remains a major challenge.

He highlighted the success of the People’s Bus Service. Over 110,000 people use the service daily. The government plans to add more buses to ease travel issues in Karachi and other cities.

Memon also shared progress in electric transport. He said Pakistan’s first EV buses were launched by Sindh. EV scooters will be given to women free of cost by the end of August.

He said the transport department will go fully digital by 2026. Route permits are already digitized. This change ensures faster, more transparent public service.
