In a major step to enhance Pakistan’s footprint in advanced tech research, the Ministry of IT & Telecom has announced a high-impact academic initiative. Pakistani graduates can now apply for Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) and Ph.D. programs at McMaster University in Canada.
Specialized fields for advanced study
The program covers several high-demand technology and engineering disciplines, including:
- Mechatronics
- Artificial Intelligence
- Electric & Autonomous Vehicles
- Energy Storage and Hybrid Powertrain Systems
These research roles are available under the Mechanical Engineering Department. Supervision will be provided by Dr. Ryan Ahmed at the McMaster Automotive Resource Center (MARC), a global leader in smart mobility innovation.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
Interested candidates can submit an Expression of Interest via the official application link shared by the Ministry.

“This partnership with McMaster University reflects our dedication to fostering innovation and preparing Pakistani graduates for global research leadership,” the Ministry said in a statement.
Applications are now open. Shortlisted candidates will move forward to the evaluation stage.
