A domestic worker has allegedly fled with 48 tolas of gold and Rs150,000 in cash from a residential apartment located on Karachi’s Shaheed-e-Millat Road, police reported on Sunday.

According to the initial investigation, the family had hired the female housekeeper just 15 days ago. They told police that the woman brought another unknown woman along with her.

The family left the house briefly for lunch, and upon returning, they discovered that both women had stolen their valuables and fled the scene.

Police officials confirmed that a first information report (FIR) has been registered, and an investigation is underway. CCTV footage from the apartment building and nearby streets is being reviewed to trace the suspects.

This incident adds to the growing number of crimes involving newly hired domestic workers in the city. Authorities have advised residents to conduct thorough background checks before employing household help.

Meanwhile, in a separate robbery incident, six armed men stormed a gaming zone in Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s 13-D area, looting cash and mobile phones from visitors.

According to eyewitnesses, there were over sixty people present in the gaming zone at the time.

The robbers held the crowd at gunpoint and managed to rob thirteen individuals, taking mobile phones and wallets. They also snatched the security guard’s weapon and stole the DVR from the surveillance system, which contained all camera recordings.

Police said they are collecting CCTV footage from surrounding areas and checking the neighborhood for clues. Authorities believe the robbers planned the operation in advance and are working to identify the suspects.
