National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the opening of three new major registration centers in Karachi. These centers will be established in Malir Cantonment, Malir and Surjani Town.

According to the spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali, National Identity (ID) laws have been updated to reduce public difficulties. Birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates will now be issued by Union Councils.

Updated Rules for B-Forms, CRCs, and Passports

  • Children’s B-Form will now include photographs.
  • For children under three years of age, the Child Registration Certificate (CRC) will follow the old format without a photo.
  • For children above three, CRCs will include both photo and biometric data and remain valid until age ten.
  • From age ten to eighteen, a new CRC with updated photo and biometric will be required.
  • Old B-Forms will still be valid, but they cannot be used for passport applications. A new CRC will be mandatory for passport issuance.
  • Each child must have a separate B-Form.
  • Through NADRA’s mobile app, families can view their complete registration records.

Legal Recognition of FRC and Anti-Corruption Measures

  • If any errors or missing information exist in the Family Registration Certificate (FRC), it can be corrected.
  • Individuals who obtained ID cards through illegal means may return them voluntarily without facing legal action for now.
  • The FRC is now recognized as a legal document and is acceptable for inheritance and other legal matters.
  • FRCs will be categorized according to family types.
  • NADRA ensures that all registration records remain completely secure.
  • Married women can now choose to include either their father’s or husband’s name on their CNIC’s.

Investigations are underway against all NADRA employees involved in corruption, including the former chairman. NADRA enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
