The chief minister opened the newly completed Food Engineering Department building, equipped with modern academic and research facilities. It was constructed at a total cost of Rs 96.4 million, officials confirmed.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shah said the Sindh government is investing in youth development by expanding university infrastructure and ensuring students get access to world-class educational environments across Karachi.
The chief minister also inaugurated two international hostels for male and female students. These facilities aim to ease accommodation challenges and support students coming from remote areas.
The new International Boys Hostel has the capacity to accommodate 112 students. The facility was built with Rs 67.1 million in funding from the Sindh government.
Alongside it, a Girls Hostel has been built to house 52 female students, reflecting a strong focus on supporting women’s access to higher education in Sindh.
The girls’ hostel was constructed at a cost of Rs 98.5 million. According to CM Shah, the PPP government is prioritizing women’s academic inclusion through better infrastructure.
He stated that providing safe and quality accommodation will help female students focus on their studies and encourage families to send girls to public universities like NED.
Shah added that inclusion in education and equal opportunities are top priorities for his government, and further academic investments will continue in future across Sindh.
