Pakistani rupee gains Rs 0.10 against US Dollar

USD to PKR: The Pakistani Rupee gained Rs 0.10 paisa or 0.04 percent against the US Dollar on Friday, settling at Rs 284.87 per USD in the interbank market, slightly stronger than the previous close of Rs 284.97.

During the day, the rupee traded between a high bid of 287.5 and a low ask of 288.6. In the open market, the dollar was quoted at 286.50 for buying and 288.50 for selling.

However, the local currency weakened against most major currencies, particularly the Euro and British Pound. It depreciated by PKR 1.21 or 0.37 percent to 331.54 against the Euro and lost 1.41 rupees or 0.37 percent to close at 382.80 against the Pound.

The PKR also lost 87 paisa or 0.25 percent versus the Swiss Franc, ending at 355.24. Against the Japanese Yen, the rupee saw a minor dip of 0.01 paisa to 1.9160.

In contrast, the local unit appreciated against Gulf currencies.

The Saudi Riyal dropped by 3.04 paisa to 75.94, while the UAE Dirham slipped by 2.90 paisa, closing at 77.56. Against the Chinese Yuan, the rupee remained flat at 39.69.

A day earlier, Pakistani rupee fell by 0.22 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 284.97 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 284.96.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 287.00 and Rs 288.50 respectively.

The price of Euro increased by 78.11 paisa to close at Rs 330.33 against the last day’s closing of Rs 331.11, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
