Pakistan and China have agreed to start joint training programs in several key areas, including construction engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), agriculture, and hospitality management under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This development took place during a visit by Gulmina Bilal Ahmad, Chairperson of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), to China from July 6 to 12, according to a press release.
During a briefing held at NAVTTC Headquarters, She said the visit aimed to boost cooperation in technical and vocational education and training between the two countries. The visit was carried out on the special instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with support from the Prime Minister’s Youth Program and the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training.
The visit was organized under the China-Pakistan TVET-Industrial Centre of Excellence (CPTICE) — the only official platform for industry-education collaboration between Pakistan and China.
While in Beijing, the Pakistani delegation also held consultations at the Embassy of Pakistan and discussed the practical implementation of TVET-related points from the China-Pakistan Joint Statement.
She shared that the delegation also visited the TANG International Education Group, where a working meeting was co-chaired with Li Jinsong, the Chinese Chairperson of CPTICE.
Additionally, Pakistan has begun steps to establish mutual recognition of skills and vocational certifications with Saudi Arabia and Oman, to support skilled workforce mobility in the region.
