PMDC announces official date for MDCAT 2025

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially announced that the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025.

According to the announcement, the MDCAT test will be held across the country on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, chaired by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani. PMDC officials confirmed that the test will take place simultaneously in all provinces.

Earlier, PMDC also released the new MDCAT curriculum, which has been revised for 2025. According to PMDC President Dr. Rizwan Taj, the test will include five subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning.

The MDCAT will be a three-hour exam consisting of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There will be no negative marking in the test. The structure of the exam will include 15% easy, 70% moderate, and 15% difficult questions.

To be eligible for admission:

  • Candidates must score at least 55% marks for MBBS (medical college) admission.
  • A minimum of 50% marks is required for BDS (dental college) admission.

The PMDC has already started preparing a national question bank, with input from education boards, universities, and subject experts. The aim is to ensure fairness, transparency, and alignment with current academic standards.

The announcement gives aspiring medical and dental students a clear timeline to prepare, and the updated syllabus is expected to better assess students’ understanding and reasoning skills.
