Karachi to host IMC over 40s World Cup 2025

Over 40s Cricket World Cup 2025

The Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) and the Sindh Home Department have agreed to work together for the successful hosting of the IMC Over 40s Cricket World Cup 2025, set for December.

The meeting took place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the office of Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Memon in Karachi. He met with PVCA Chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan to discuss tournament logistics and government support.

During the meeting, Iqbal Memon assured full support from the Sindh Government, promising security, hospitality, and smooth arrangements for the 16-team international event to be held in Karachi from December 1 to 13.

Mr. Memon said the tournament would help promote a positive image of Pakistan, boost sports tourism, and bring an economic benefit to Karachi. He added that visitors would be welcomed warmly and protected efficiently.

Fawad Ijaz Khan thanked the government and emphasized the need for balanced security arrangements that would allow international teams to enjoy Karachi’s culture and hospitality without feeling restricted.

He stated that PVCA wants the event to reflect Pakistan’s friendly environment and highlighted that Karachi has the potential to host global events safely and successfully.

So far, 12 countries have confirmed their participation. These include Pakistan, USA, UAE, Canada, Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Wales, and Hong Kong.

Discussions are ongoing with India, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Nepal. India has expressed early interest but their entry depends on government clearance (NOC), which seems unlikely due to political tensions.

Fawad Ijaz mentioned that former stars like Misbah-ul-Haq, Abdul Razzaq, and Mohammad Sami played in 2023. This time, efforts are underway to include Shahid Afridi, Younus Khan, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, and Kamran Akmal.
