PM forms committee for appointments of Pakistan Digital Authority

Pakistan Digital Authority appointments

Following the enactment of the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, 2025, the Prime Minister has approved a high-level Search and Selection Committee to oversee the Pakistan Digital Authority appointments.

This move signals the beginning of the authority’s operational phase, aiming to regulate and advance digital governance nationwide.

The Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) issued a formal notification, naming Federal Minister Shaza Fatima as the committee’s convener.

Other members include ministers from Economic Affairs, Railways, and Finance, along with secretaries from the Establishment, Cabinet, and IT divisions. Salman Akhtar, a member of the PRAL Board, also joins the panel.

The committee’s task is to shortlist and recommend three candidates each for the posts of Chairperson and two Members. It will also define salary packages and negotiate the final terms of employment with the selected individuals.

These appointments are crucial for the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA), which will lead policy implementation, digital regulation, and the promotion of digital transformation across public services.

The Authority is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening data governance, cybersecurity, and e-government platforms.
