Karachi is expected to receive heavy monsoon rains starting June 26, as part of a larger weather system sweeping across Sindh, according to the monsoon storm warning issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts that Karachi will face thunderstorms, strong winds, and intense rainfall from June 27 onward, which is likely to disrupt normal life in the city.
Residents are advised to prepare as heavy showers, dust storms, and wind gusts may lead to waterlogging, traffic jams, and power outages across Karachi’s low-lying and coastal areas.

Officials have urged people to stay indoors during storms, avoid parking under trees or near weak buildings, and to keep children and elderly family members safe and informed.
The PDMA warned that loose electrical wires pose a fatal risk during rain. Citizens are encouraged to report them and avoid flooded roads to prevent accidents or electrocution.
The city’s Deputy Commissioner’s offices have been instructed to activate emergency response plans, clear drains, and coordinate with K-Electric (KE), rescue teams, and sanitation departments for public safety.
Authorities are monitoring a westerly weather system expected to intensify rains, making Karachi one of the high-risk zones. Citizens should follow media alerts and keep emergency supplies ready.
