The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily suspended its flight operations to several Gulf countries including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai, as Iran launched missiles targeting U.S. airspaces in said countries, as reported by local media here.
A statement from the PIA spokesperson confirmed to local media that the flights to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai have been cancelled.
The move was made due to the ongoing conflict-like situation in the region.
“The safety of our passengers remains our top priority,” said the spokesperson. “We regret the inconvenience, but these steps are necessary in the current environment.”
PIA announced that flights will resume as soon as the situation improves and regional safety is restored. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with PIA’s call centre for updates.
PIA’s reservations department has started rebooking passengers affected by the cancellations on alternative routes, where available, to minimise disruption.
The airline said it understands the inconvenience this causes, but it is taking every step to protect travellers and staff from possible threats.
Travellers are urged to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
