Sindh imposes new condition for college admission

Father's domicile for college admission

The Sindh Education Department has abolished the requirement for the student to present his/her domicile and PRC and imposed a new condition for college admissions in 2025.

According to the new condition, the candidate has to submit their father’s domicile instead of their own.

This new rule has replaced the previously accepted documents, such as the student’s own domicile and Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC).

According to the officials, the move is part of an attempt to simplify admission documentation, but the requirement for a father’s domicile is being widely criticized by parents and students.

As per media reports, parents of the students are being forced to visit multiple government offices just to obtain a valid copy of the father’s domicile.

A department spokesperson told media that 5th and 8th-grade results are no longer required, and students who failed in up to two 9th-grade subjects may still apply.

Applicants must complete the process by July 15, while the first merit lists will be displayed from July 22, according to the schedule issued by the Education Department. Students who fail to confirm their admission within the specified timeframe will lose their seat, which will be assigned to the next eligible candidate on the merit list.
