The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a three-phase Skills Assessment Camp for 60 U19 male cricketers, starting Wednesday, June 18, at the Inzamam-ul-Haq High Performance Centre in Multan.
This camp aims to identify and prepare young talent for the ICC U19 World Cup 2026.
The first phase will run from June 18 to 23, involving 30 players chosen for their recent performances in the National U17 Cup, U19 inter-district tournament, and the Grade II competition.
These players will undergo match-based skill assessments, focusing on fitness, game awareness, and technical improvements under expert supervision.
The second phase, from June 25 to 30, will include another 30 players who are also eligible for the 2026 ICC U19 World Cup. They will go through the same assessment process to ensure fair selection based on merit and potential.
The third and final phase will begin on July 1 and continue until August end. It will bring together 10 players who have already represented Pakistan U19, along with 20 shortlisted names from the earlier phases, forming a final pool of 30 players.
This final group will undergo intensive training and match preparation to gear up for international youth competition. The focus will be on high-performance fitness, technical development, and situational match play.
PCB’s Head of Youth Development, Azhar Ali, called the camp a “vital step” in preparing a strong squad for the World Cup. He emphasized the importance of creating a structured pathway from grassroots cricket to the international stage.
Following this camp, the players will also participate in the Regional U19 tournament, helping selectors monitor performance before finalizing the ICC World Cup squad.
