On the orders of the city administration, as many as 539 people were arrested in Karachi over violations of section 144 during Eid ul Adha 2025.
Additional Commissioner Syed Ghulam Mehdi Shah supervised the three-day sanitation operation, which led to 206 FIRs being registered across the city to ensure public hygiene and legal compliance.
The action was part of an intensified effort during Eid ul Adha to maintain cleanliness and enforce civic discipline amid widespread animal slaughter and waste generation.
Authorities confirmed that the arrested individuals were mostly involved in tearing offals, dumping waste illegally, or disrupting sanitation efforts during the festive period.
Commissioner Karachi also commended DIG Traffic for maintaining smooth traffic flow across the metropolis during the Eid holidays, despite the high volume of public movement and sacrifice-related transport.
In addition, the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) was praised for ensuring the timely collection and disposal of animal waste and general garbage from all major zones.
