A heatwave alert has been issued for upper and central Sindh from June 7 to 12 including Karachi, with temperatures expected to soar 3 to 5°C above normal, warned the Meteorological Department.
According to officials, the rise in heat is due to a high-pressure system forming in the upper atmosphere, which will dominate much of the region during this period.
Karachi will remain hot and humid with daytime temperatures between 35 to 37°C from Friday to Sunday, and humidity levels reaching up to 70% in the mornings.
The weather forecast predicts occasionally windy conditions in Karachi, with winds blowing from the westerly or southwesterly direction throughout the three-day period.
Citizens, especially children, women, and senior citizens, are urged to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and stay hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses.

The public is also advised to reduce outdoor activity, wear light clothing, and check in on vulnerable individuals, especially those with medical conditions or limited mobility.
Officials emphasize that heatstroke risk is high, and early symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, and dry mouth should not be ignored. Immediate medical help is recommended in such cases.
Hospitals across the region have been directed to stay alert and ensure adequate arrangements to manage any spike in heat-related emergencies during the warning period.
The heatwave coincides with Eid-ul-Adha preparations, prompting authorities to advise citizens to plan outdoor activities in cooler parts of the day and take extra precautions.
Experts say the situation will be monitored closely, and updates will be shared with the public regularly via media and weather alerts to ensure community safety.
