Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two suspects near Karachi’s Paposh Nagar graveyard on charges of ‘renting’ weapons from the City Courts’ maalkhana (warehouse) to commit crimes.
SSP Central Malik Murtaza was quoted by Dawn.com as saying that Shahrah-i-Noorjahan Police conducted a raid near the graveyard Shaharyar alias Masoom Bengali and Saeed from the scene. Police recovered weapons from their custody.
Police claim that the two men were ‘most wanted criminals’. “The suspects made startling revelations during initial interrogation,” the SSP said. He further said that the suspects are claiming to have ‘rented’ weapons from the City Court’s maalkhana for Rs8,000 per weapon.
“Khalil also accompanied them during robberies,” the SSP said, adding that if they ever got arrested, Khalil would visit the police station where they were being held, presenting himself as their lawyer and arranging “deals” for their release.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
