Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium to host international cricket after 17 years

Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium is set to welcome international cricket once again after a long gap of 17 years, as federal and provincial officials move ahead with plans to upgrade the venue.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, Mohsin Naqvi, and CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah have engaged in discussions to upgrade Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad to meet international standards.

This initiative aims to revive international cricket in the region, with plans to host a match at the stadium for the first time in 17 years.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing cricket infrastructure in Sindh to promote the sport and provide opportunities for young talent.

The last international ODI at Niaz Stadium was in 2008, making the current efforts to host international matches a significant step forward for cricket in Hyderabad.

Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that a PCB team will assess the stadium’s facilities next week, ensuring that necessary improvements are made.

CM Murad Ali Shah reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to support the upgradation efforts, aligning with directives from President Asif Ali Zardari.

The discussions also included plans for talent identification and development programs to nurture young cricketers from Sindh, ensuring a robust future for cricket in the province.
