Pakistan announce holidays for Eid ul Adha

Eid celebrations schedule

The federal government has announced the holidays for Eid-ul-Adha across Pakistan.

According to an official notification issued by the cabinet division, the government has declared four-day holidays across the country starting from Friday, June 6, until Monday, June 9.

Eid ul Adha, the Islamic festival of sacrifice, will be celebrated nationwide on Saturday, June 7, with religious devotion. The government aims to facilitate smooth travel and celebrations during the extended break.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved the Eid holiday schedule earlier this week, and the Cabinet Division formally released the notification today for public awareness and departmental coordination.

Globally, Hajj rituals begin on Wednesday, June 4, with the key rite of Waqf-e-Arafat taking place on Thursday, June 5. Eid will be observed in Saudi Arabia on Friday, June 6.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have also declared four-day holidays for Eid ul Adha from Thursday to Sunday, allowing residents time for family gatherings and celebrations.

Qatar has gone further by offering a five-day public holiday from 9 to 13 Zil Hajj. Muslims around the world commemorate Eid ul Adha by sacrificing animals, following Prophet Ibrahim’s example.
