A sessions court has granted bail to Kamran Qureshi, the father of Armaghan – the main suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case – in an illegal weapons case.
The court approved the bail after hearing arguments from both sides. Kamran Qureshi’s lawyer said the case was politically motivated and based only on his client’s relation to the main suspect.
An additional sessions judge approved the bail against surety bonds worth Rs100,000 and directed authorities to release Kamran if he is not needed in any other case.
Kamran Qureshi was booked by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), which accused him of purchasing illegal weapons from Peshawar and transporting them to Sindh.
According to the police, the illegal arms were later used in a shootout involving Armaghan and others when they resisted arrest at their residence during a police raid.

Inspector Muhammad Ali stated that these same weapons were used by Armaghan, who opened fire at a police party.
Police have registered a total of four different cases against Kamran Qureshi so far, including charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act and for possession of unlicensed arms.
Kamran’s lawyer strongly denied all charges and told the court that his client is being unfairly targeted for being Armaghan’s father. The court acknowledged this argument in granting bail.
Armaghan remains in custody and is being investigated in connection with the murder of Mustafa Amir and attacks on law enforcement during the operation.
The court emphasized that further investigation is ongoing and Kamran must cooperate with authorities. Meanwhile, the police are also examining the origin of the arms recovered.
