Businessman Salman Farooqi has been booked for assaulting a motorcyclist in Karachi’s Defense Housing Authority (DHA), Phase 06, confirmed by police officials.
The video of Farooqi torturing a motorcyclist in front of his sister went viral on social media last night.
A complaint was filed by eyewitness Muhammad Saleem at the Gizri Police Station. The FIR includes charges of public humiliation, issuing death threats, and assault with intent to harm.
According to the witnesses, the victim, a mobile company sales manager, had arrived for a recovery task near Ittehad Commercial where the incident occurred.
The viral video shows Farooqi allegedly beating the motorcyclist in front of his sister, who is seen crying and begging him to let her brother go unharmed.
Saleem claimed Farooqi and his armed security guard forcibly dragged the victim into a vehicle at gunpoint. Inside, the motorcyclist was reportedly beaten, verbally abused, and threatened with death.
Despite protests from the women with the victim, Farooqi allegedly pushed them away and continued the assault. Several bystanders witnessed the incident and captured it on their mobile phones.
Videos of the incident quickly went viral on social media, causing public outrage and demands for legal action. Police have since launched multiple raids to arrest Salman Farooqi.
Authorities are also trying to contact the victim and his family to gather more evidence and provide support, while the investigations are underway.
Police urged citizens to report such abuse and reassured that no one is above the law, regardless of their status or influence in society.
