Islamabad United has issued a statement regarding Alex Hales’ absence for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League Season 10 (PSL X).
Alex was initially available for the entire tournament, with playoffs scheduled to conclude by May 18. Due to the rescheduling of the PSL, the tournament dates extended beyond May 18, leading to a conflict with Alex’s prior commitments.
The 36-year-old made a strong start in PSL 10 on May 19, scoring a quick 88 off 35 balls against Karachi Kings, hitting six fours and eight sixes, as Islamabad United reached 251-5.
Alex is traveling to Spain for his best friend’s wedding, a commitment he had communicated to the franchise during his signing. This understanding was mutually agreed upon between Islamabad United and Alex Hales.
Hales said, “It’s always a pleasure playing for IU—this franchise feels like family to me. I’ve loved being part of the group again this season and wish the boys all the best for the rest of the playoffs. I’ll be cheering the team on from Spain!”
Islamabad United will now take on the winner of the Eliminator between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars in Qualifier 2, with a spot in the grand final in Lahore on May 25 up for grabs.
