Karachi Robbery resistance deaths

A sharp rise in Karachi robbery resistance deaths has alarmed residents as at least 46 people have been killed in 2025 over resisting street criminals.

In the past week alone, six people lost their lives resisting armed robberies, highlighting the worsening security situation in the city, while, authorities asserted that most incidents involve armed snatchers targeting motorbikes.

On Monday, two youths were fatally shot by robbers in separate areas. In Korangi, 24-year-old Faisal Mahmood was attacked during a bike snatching incident and shot fatally in the eye.

One incident occurred in Korangi, where Faisal Mahmood, son of a local mosque’s muezzin, was fatally shot during a motorbike snatching attempt.

Eyewitnesses said he cried for help while in pain, but the robbers escaped with his motorbike before the medical assistance arrived.

Law enforcement officials stated that motorbike-snatching gangs are resurging, stating that raids are underway to arrest suspects involved in this wave of violent street crimes targeting innocent citizens.

In a similar tragedy last Friday, Shah Fahd was killed in Landhi No.4 during a mugging attempt. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Police have confirmed ongoing raids to trace the culprits.

Rescue officials noted that the area was facing a power outage during the incident, adding difficulty to both identification and response. Locals are demanding increased patrolling and strict crackdowns.

Police shared that the intelligence-led operations are being planned to curb the wave of Karachi robbery resistance deaths and protect the public.

Officials urge citizens to avoid resistance during robberies and immediately report any criminal activity. Community vigilance and timely police action are seen as critical in reversing the crime trend.
