Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) apprehended 7 members of a car lifting gang including two women on Sunday. Six reportedly stolen cars have been recovered.
Accused are identified as Shujat, Danish, Attaullah, Ehtisham, Daniyal, Qurat-ul-Ain and Kanwal. Among them, Qurat ul Ain and her husband are the mastermind of this gang, said the Police.
According to the details shared by SSP Arif Aslam Rao, the accused members are involved in lifting cars from different areas of Karachi and then selling them out.
Twenty cars had been stolen in Karachi by this gang, in which six cars have been recovered. Recovered cars include a Honda Civic, Honda City, Suzuki Cultus and an Alto, which were stolen from the different parts of the city.
Some members of the gang, including the couple have confessed that they are drug addicted and used to lift the cars for their narcotic needs and entertainment, Said SSP Arif Aslam Rao.
Details also said that the brother-in-Law of Qurat ul Ain used its late brother’s excise uniform to commit this crime which was later burned by his mother after knowing.
Further investigation is underway to recover the rest of the stolen car and to proceed legal action against the accused members.
