The annual Aurat March Karachi, scheduled for May 11, has been postponed due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, organisers confirmed.
In an official statement shared on Instagram, the feminist collective said the “war-like situation” in the region has created an unsafe environment for public gatherings, particularly for vulnerable groups.

“We must consider the risks that disproportionately impact the same communities we seek to protect – including restricted movement, the threat of violence, and increased surveillance under national security narratives,” the statement read.
The group stressed the decision was neither “easy” nor “quick,” emphasizing that conflict — even the threat of war — pushes back the fight for justice and feminist rights.
The Aurat March has become a powerful annual event advocating for women’s rights, gender justice, and protection of marginalized communities, drawing thousands across Pakistan’s major cities each year.
