Raast hits milestone of Rs 20 trillion in digital transactions

Raast digital transactions

Raast, Pakistan’s first instant digital payment system, has successfully processed 892 million transactions, surpassing Rs 20 trillion in value since launch.

Developed by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Raast is at the forefront of the nation’s push toward a cashless and digital financial future.

As part of Pakistan Financial Literacy Week (PFLW) 2025, SBP launched the “Go Cashless” campaign at a Karachi mall to encourage digital payment adoption.

Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah led the event, joined by 12 major financial institutions, aiming to raise awareness among shopkeepers and customers alike.

He highlighted that in Q2 2025 alone, Raast processed 795.7 million transactions worth Rs 6.4 trillion, marking a strong shift toward e-payments.

Mobile and internet banking transactions have grown by 62 percent, showing rising consumer confidence in digital financial tools and convenience.

Digital transactions overall rose 35 percent in FY 2024, with volumes increasing from Rs 4.7 billion to Rs 6.4 billion, valued at Rs 547 trillion.

The SBP sees this growth as a sign that initiatives like Raast and Go Cashless are fostering financial inclusion across all economic sectors.

The campaign targets all levels of commerce—from local street vendors to large retail chains—encouraging them to move away from physical cash.

By driving digital transformation, SBP aims to build a cash-lite economy that is secure, inclusive, and technologically efficient for every Pakistani.
