Heatwave hits several districts as temperatures soar in Sindh

Sindh heatwave

Several districts across Sindh are currently experiencing intense heatwave conditions, as temperatures rose across the province, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported.

Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and nearby areas are expected to remain under the influence of high temperatures throughout the day.

The weather in these regions will stay hot with intermittent gusty winds, making conditions even more challenging for residents.

According to the Met Office, districts in upper Sindh such as Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Kashmore will see temperatures 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.

Similar conditions are forecast for Qambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Sukkur, and surrounding areas.

Authorities are advising citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and to stay hydrated to cope with the heat.

Schools and public service departments are also being urged to take precautionary measures as the heatwave persists.

This early summer spike in temperatures is being closely monitored, and further updates from the Meteorological Department are expected in the coming days.

A day earlier, Residents of Karachi are in for another hot and dry day as the PMD has predicted the temperature to soar up to 39°C on Sunday.

According to the PMD, sea breezes – which normally help shape Karachi’s temperature – are expected to remain cut off throughout the day.

As a result, the city will experience intense sunshine along with hot and dry winds, adding to the discomfort of citizens.

The Met Office further stated that weather conditions are expected to improve slightly by evening when sea breezes may begin to return, offering some relief from the heat.
