The Sindh government has extended the deadline for vehicle owners to replace old number plates with the newly designed Ajrak-themed plates.
As per the details, the authorities have updated the deadline and moved it to May 3, 2025, instead of the earlier April 3, 2025.
According to official sources, the extension was granted due to the Eidul Fitr holidays, which delayed the issuance of a formal notification.
However, authorities have confirmed that an official announcement regarding the extension will be made within the next two days.
The new Ajrak design number plates, which are embedded with modern security features, have been made mandatory for all vehicles across the province.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to improve vehicle identification and security measures, meanwhile, the officials have warned that strict action will be taken after the new deadline.
Vehicles displaying old number plates will be confiscated, and owners will face fines for failing to comply with the new rule.
As per the excise department officials, Sindh currently has nearly 7 million registered vehicles, including bikes and cars.
The transition to the new Ajrak number plate system is being treated as a priority project to bring consistency, modernisation, and better regulation of vehicles in the province.
