The leadership of the Businessmen Group (BMG) and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has strongly praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his timely decision to reduce electricity tariffs.
In a joint statement, key figures from BMG and KCCI, including Chairman Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairmen Tahir Khaliq, Anjum Nisar, Mian Abrar Ahmed, and President of KCCI Jawed Bilwani, hailed the relief package as a much-needed intervention at a critical time.
They emphasized that the reduction of Rs7.59 per unit for industrial consumers and Rs7.41 per unit for domestic consumers would offer significant relief to both the public and the industrial sector, which has been facing escalating energy bills.
The BMG and KCCI leadership recognized the tariff reduction as a “historic intervention” that would have long-lasting benefits for millions of households and businesses.

They noted that this decision would not only ease the financial burden but also help rejuvenate the industrial sector, boost economic growth, and improve Pakistan’s export performance, contributing to a more competitive business environment.
The leaders also commended the efforts of the Taskforce on Energy Sector, particularly the work of Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Power Muhammad Ali, which helped make this relief possible.
Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of BMG, praised the PM’s decision, calling the tariff reduction a crucial step to boost industrial growth.
He noted that high energy costs had previously hindered industrial productivity, and this reduction would benefit manufacturing and exports – key drivers of Pakistan’s economy.
Jawed Bilwani, President of KCCI, welcomed the reduction but stressed the need for continued government action to ensure long-term stability in electricity prices.
He emphasized that this initiative was just the beginning of much-needed reforms to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base and economic growth.
