The German Consulate in Karachi has changed its visa appointment process due to high demand, affecting urgent travelers.
Applicants can no longer book appointments directly and must now register on a waiting list. Appointments will be assigned in chronological order based on availability.
This new system aims to ensure fair distribution of visa slots, but it may result in longer waiting times, especially for those with urgent travel needs.
The consulate has urged applicants to carefully complete the registration process with accurate details, as incomplete submissions may lead to delays.

There is no fee for joining the waiting list, and the consulate has assured that applicants do not need agents for assistance.
The entire registration process is free and must be completed individually. However, Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) applicants are exempt from this rule and can continue booking appointments directly.
The announcement, made on March 25, 2025, is part of the consulate’s efforts to improve efficiency in processing Schengen and long-term visas.
While the change is expected to cause delays, the consulate believes it will create a smoother and more transparent system for all applicants. Those planning to apply for a German visa are advised to register as early as possible to secure a slot.
