What is Al-Quds Day?

Al-Quds Day, or ‘Quds Day,’ is an annual international observance aimed at showing solidarity with Palestine and opposing the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. It typically involves large rallies that begin after the Friday communal prayers.

The event was established in 1979 by Iran’s first Supreme Leader, Ruhollah Khomeini, shortly after the Iranian Revolution. Its purpose was to express support for Palestinians and to oppose the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem. Over time, Quds Day has become a symbol of resistance.
