Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar has made a significant announcement regarding the sale of land at Port Qasim, stating that the land will no longer be resold through auctions, a method previously used for land transactions at the port.
Speaking to journalists in Karachi, Anwar stated that the land will no longer be resold through auctions, a method previously used for land transactions at the port. Instead of the auction process, the Port Qasim Authority will now independently determine the price of the land.
He emphasized that he opposes external recruitment in the maritime sector and acknowledged that Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) ships, though operational, were not highly profitable.
Anwar also expressed willingness to collaborate with the Sindh government on Karachi’s development projects.
However, he noted that he was unaware of any objections from the Planning Commission regarding the Karachi Elevated Corridor.
