Karachi: Three more citizens lost their lives in road accidents

Karachi’s worsening traffic situation led to three more deaths in separate road accidents, highlighting the city’s growing road safety crisis.

Near Johar Mor, a speeding cement mixer truck crashed into a motorcycle, killing 25-year-old Abdul Saboor on the spot.

The accident enraged bystanders, who set the truck on fire, prompting police intervention. Authorities later arrested the truck driver.

In another incident at Liaquatabad No. 10, a dumper truck hit a motorcyclist, killing him instantly. Meanwhile, in Keamari, a car struck a bike, resulting in another fatality.

So far this year, Karachi has recorded at least 207 traffic-related deaths, with 2,623 people injured.

Heavy vehicles were responsible for 64 of these fatalities, including 17 by dumpers, 22 by trailer trucks, 12 by water tankers, and 13 by passenger buses.

Despite repeated claims by traffic police and city officials about improving road safety, fatal accidents continue to rise.

Citizens have expressed frustration over the lack of strict enforcement of traffic laws and poor road management, calling for urgent action to prevent further tragedies.
