Karachi traffic police have released a detailed plan for the main procession of Youm-e-Ali (AS), which will be observed on 21st of Ramadan (March 22).
The main gathering will take place at Nishtar Park at 1 PM, after which the procession will begin.
Procession Route
The procession will follow the route from Nishtar Park to Namiash, MA Jinnah Road, Sea Breeze, Saddar Empress Market, Saddar Regal, and Tibet Center, before reaching Bolton Market and concluding at Kharadar Hussainiya Imambargah.
Road Closures
To ensure smooth traffic flow, MA Jinnah Road from Guru Mandir to Tower will be closed for general traffic. Traffic police personnel will be deployed along the route to guide commuters on alternative routes.
Alternative Routes for Commuters
For those coming from Nazimabad, traffic will be diverted from Lasbela Chowk towards Nishtar Road and further towards Garden. Commuters from Liaquatabad can take the Teen Hatti to Lasbela Chowk route and turn left towards Central Jail.
Traffic heading from Hassan Square to PPP Chowrangi will be rerouted via Kashmir Road to Society Light Signal, while vehicles from Jail Flyover will be directed towards Teen Hatti and Nishtar Road (Lasbela Chowk). Similarly, those traveling from Shahrah-e-Quaideen to Namiash will be advised to take Kashmir Road from Society Light Signal.
Meanwhile, traffic coming from Jamshed Road to Guru Mandir can opt for an alternative route via Bihar Darabad, Yar Jang Road, and Soldier Bazaar.
Citizens are advised to plan their travel accordingly and follow the directions provided by traffic police to avoid inconvenience.
Youm-e-Ali, observed on 21st Ramadan, commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib, the fourth caliph of Islam.
He sustained fatal injuries in an attack by Ibn Muljim, a Kharijite dissident, on 19th Ramazan 40 AH (661 CE) while heading for Fajr prayer in Kufa, Iraq. He attained martyrdom on 21st Ramadan.
