New Zealand reaches Champions Trophy final after defeating South Africa

Champions Trophy 2025 Final

New Zealand has secured a spot in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final after defeating South Africa by 50 runs in the semifinal at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

The Black Caps will now face India in the final at Dubai International Stadium on March 9 [Sunday].

Batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand posted a record-breaking 362/6 in their allotted 50 overs – the highest total in Champions Trophy history, surpassing Australia’s previous record of 356 runs.

Young sensation Rachin Ravindra led the charge with a brilliant 108-run knock, while Kane Williamson anchored the innings with 102 runs.

In response, South Africa managed 312/9, despite a valiant effort from David Miller, who smashed a blazing century.

Rassie van der Dussen (69) and Temba Bavuma (56) also contributed, but their efforts weren’t enough to chase down the mammoth target.

For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Matt Henry and Glenn Phillips claimed two wickets each to restrict South Africa’s scoring.

With this victory, New Zealand now prepares for a high-stakes final against India in Dubai, as both teams aim to lift the Champions Trophy.
