Airspace to be closed for PAF flypast at Champions Trophy opening in Karachi

A specific air corridor will be closed for the flypast, and the airspace will be busy from 2:30 pm to 3 pm, including the rehearsal period from February 17 to 19.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued instructions to airlines through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding the flypast.

The aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will conduct a flypast during the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy in Karachi on February 19.

Commercial flights arriving at Karachi Airport during this time have been instructed to exercise caution and carry extra fuel as a precaution.

For the first time, the PAF will perform a flypast at the Champions Trophy ceremony.

It is worth noting here that a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer was martyred after intervening to protect a woman during an alleged abduction attempt on Islamabad’s Ninth Avenue, police said on Sunday. The PAF officer martyred incident occurred when the officer tried to rescue the woman from the suspect.

According to police, Group Captain Asim Tariq was travelling along Ninth Avenue when he noticed a woman getting off a motorcycle while the rider was allegedly pulling her by the hand. Seeing the situation, he turned back and stopped near the motorcycle to protect the woman.
