Karachi: Medical institutes cancel admissions of candidates with dual domicile

Dow University in Karachi has reportedly canceled the admissions of 18 candidates having dual domiciles.

As per media reports, the university revoked the admission of the candidates after verification from the concerned departments.

The administration of Dow University has penned down a letter to the Secretary of Health, expressing concern over the admission of candidates in several universities of Sindh with dual domicile.

In the letter, the administration confirmed that the admission of at least 8 candidates has been canceled, urging that the university offer admission on merit, policy of Sindh govt and prospectus.

The media reports claimed that the officials from the health department confirmed the news, stating that the domicile was issued on September 03, while the deadline to submit the admission form was set for the first week of the same month.

The reports further claimed that the university administration canceled the admissions after conducting interviews, with most of the candidates possessing East Karachi domiciles.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dow University has the authority to grant admissions to all medical colleges in Karachi.

Additionally, the report highlighted that the Liaquat University of Medical Sciences also suspended five admissions, while the Liaquat Medical University – Jamshoro also held admissions of five candidates.
