Karachi witnessed a tragic accidents in which a trailer crushed a mother and her six-year-old son in the Bhains Colony (Cattle Colony) area of the metropolis.
The child, identified as Subhan, tragically lost his life, while his mother was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital for medical treatment where she succumbed to her injuries.
However, the police officials confirmed that the trailer driver fled the scene after the accident.
In another tragic accident in Baldia Ittehad Town, a speeding bus hit a 12-year-old boy, Abdul Majeed, causing his death.
Rescue officials confirmed that Abdul Majeed’s body was taken to the hospital, meanwhile, the bus driver also managed to escape from the scene.
Police have launched an investigation and initiated efforts to arrest the bus driver.
It is worth mention here that the reckless driving and over speeding contributed to a deadly month on Karachi’s roads, with over 55 individuals lost their lives in various traffic accidents during January 2025.
According to the Edhi Foundation report, a total of 63 people, including 8 boys, 2 girls, and 2 children, losing their lives, while over 500 people, including 78 women, were also injured during this period in various traffic accidents.
The report suggest that driving in the wrong direction and failure to adhere to traffic rules have been major causes of traffic jams and accidents in the metropolis.
A significant number of motorcyclists were reported among the fatalities in different areas of the city.
The alarming increase in road accidents highlights the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and greater awareness to prevent further loss of life on Karachi’s streets.
